About Immaculate Conception
The Feast of the Immaculate Conception, celebrated on 8 December, honours the Catholic dogma that the Virgin Mary was conceived free from original sin. Pope Pius IX solemnly defined this teaching in 1854 with the bull Ineffabilis Deus.
