In 2027, Presidents' Day falls on a Monday, giving many a long weekend.
About Presidents' Day
Presidents' Day is a United States federal holiday observed on the third Monday of February. Its official name remains Washington's Birthday, honouring George Washington, the country's first president, born on 22 February 1732. After a 1971 law fixed several holidays to Mondays, the day increasingly came to celebrate all US presidents, and Abraham Lincoln in particular. It is now widely known by the popular name Presidents' Day.
As a federal holiday, Presidents' Day closes government offices, banks, courts and the stock and bond markets, while post offices suspend regular mail delivery. Public schools and many businesses are closed as well. The day is best known commercially for large retail sales on cars, furniture and appliances. Some communities hold patriotic ceremonies, historical re-enactments or readings of Washington's Farewell Address, though celebrations are generally low-key.
