Mexican Constitution Day commemorates the 1917 constitution, promulgated on 5 February in Querétaro at the close of the Mexican Revolution. Regarded as one of the first to enshrine social rights, it established land reform, labour protections and the separation of church and state. Although the anniversary falls on 5 February, the public holiday is observed on the first Monday of February to create a long weekend.
