In 2029, Remembrance Day falls on a Sunday, on the weekend.
About Remembrance Day
Remembrance Day, observed on 11 November, honors the members of the armed forces who died in the line of duty since the First World War. The date marks the armistice that ended the fighting in 1918, at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. Across Canada, it is a solemn day of national reflection and gratitude for those who served.
People wear red poppies in the weeks before the day, inspired by the poem In Flanders Fields. At 11 a.m. a two-minute silence is observed, and ceremonies take place at war memorials across the country, most notably at the National War Memorial in Ottawa. Wreaths are laid, the Last Post is sounded, and veterans, cadets, and dignitaries gather to honor the fallen.
